THORNTON FARM

OUR CURATED HOME

“The journey is about trusting yourself to create a life within your home - about creating a place you want to live in and experience daily.” - Paige

Home is a state of mind; it reflects how we feel within our spaces, and what we see within our daily rhythms of life. I’ve described my home as a safe place to land, and that’s exactly what Thornton Farm is for my family and myself. Some have described it as a warm and inviting place they don’t want to leave and I have to agree! I have a soulful connection to this home and the land we’re on, and the connection constantly inspires and motivates me; it provides nourishment when the busy world outside wears me down.

Home is a place that evokes emotion. To me, a home is imprinted with the experiences of the people that inhabit it, and when others enter our space they feel some of the hard emotions that have been experienced. But the home also creates a central place of love, renewal, and joy. It’s like our home has its own internal light; I truly believe it has healed myself and my family.

I need to use all of my senses to feel alive and connected to my space so my design aesthetic utilizes all five senses: touch, sight, hearing, smell and taste. Creates an atmospheric space where we feel grounded and human; comfortable and one with our surroundings. I also love to play acoustic or instrumental jazz softly in the background. I find that playing music through the house relaxes and calms me in the busyness of life.

At Thornton Farm, we are telling our unique story through vintage with history and heritage. And as most stories happen over time, the changes I’ve made to each room characterize the details of many seasons gone by. Our home gives us a good foundation and  free rein to create and curate our collected vintage pieces.

The word “curated” means “Carefully chosen and thoughtfully organized or presented.” I am a huge advocate for curating pieces that feel like ‘home’ to me; familiar and vulnerable - a safe place to land. In a way, collecting over time has been like writing a family history; chronicling our highs, lows, and everything in between.

I hope this glimpse into our home has piqued your curiosity and opened your mind to the possibilities within your own space. My advice: cultivate beauty and surround yourself with it, and everything will fall into place.

Hugs,
Paige
